New motherhood can be a time of joy and delight and equally a time of feeling completely overwhelmed. Offered by Erin McCarthy, Ph.D. — a trained Mindful Motherhood facilitator and mother of twins — Mindful Motherhood training is a meditation and movement based program for new moms designed to reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood, and enhance mother-infant bonding. Research has shown that this program can help alleviate anxiety and negative mood in new moms. Mindfulness and self-compassion can help new moms meet the challenges of the rapid change that comes with motherhood, developing the skills to approach every experience with your new baby with awareness, kindness and compassion. This 6 week course is aimed at new moms and their babies (newborn to 9 months) and is being offered in Ottawa for the first time at the Ottawa Birth and Wellness Centre!
